Sr. Mary Catherine’s Dedication to Guardian Angel

Sister Mary Catherine Dunn, D.C., is a member of Guardian Angel’s Board of Directors and the Path to Possible campaign cabinet. As a Daughter of Charity, she has devoted her life to serving the poor and less fortunate. She loves the work she does – and the opportunity do it as part of a community of sisters all in support of one another.

Sr. Mary Catherine first became involved with Guardian Angel as a teenager, accompanying her aunt, who was a Lady of Charity, to one of the agency’s old locations. She recalls how impressed she was with the way Guardian Angel helped people – how many services they provided, and how they served everyone with such compassion and respect.

Since that time, Guardian Angel has remained an important part of Sr. Mary Catherine’s life. She joined the Board of Directors for the first time in the 1990s, and then, after moving away from St. Louis for a time, rejoined it several years ago. Of Guardian Angel’s services, she states, “I think we’re making a difference in the lives of children and their families. I love seeing how our contributors are all excited about what’s happening at Guardian Angel.”

The new Social Services Center is an important step for Guardian Angel, according to Sr. Mary Catherine. “We are now having a permanent home. It is a place where members of the community can come for a whole range of services – the food pantry, classes, one-on-one counseling, the resale shop – all in one spot,” she explains.

As a member of the campaign cabinet, Sr. Mary Catherine has been tireless in her efforts in support of this project, making countless calls to potential supporters. In all of her conversations, she emphasizes the lasting impact of the new center. “We’re building a great foundation for Guardian Angel for the long-term,” she says.

Thank you, Sr. Mary Catherine, for your dedication to Guardian Angel and the children and families we serve!
