Helpful Information for Parents
Childcare Hours
Our Childcare Center’s hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. All children attending must be dropped off at the Center no later than 9:30 a.m.
Enrollment Costs
Childcare fees are set with a sliding scale based on a family’s gross monthly income and its total number of dependents.
Many families are eligible for state subsidized childcare. To qualify, income must meet the eligibility requirements and must need childcare because of employment, school or vocational training.
Enrollment Orientation
All children need a little time to become oriented to a new environment. On the first day in childcare, we recommend that both parent and child visit for the morning. On the second day, the child may stay half or all day, depending on how well he or she is adjusting. On the third day, the child may stay all day.
Healthcare Policies
All children are required to have a medical examination prior to admission into childcare and annually thereafter. We provided forms that should be completed by a doctor or clinic. A child’s immunization record must be up-to-date prior to admission.
Vacations and Holidays
We are open all year except for
- New Year’s Eve and Day
- Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day (and the day after)
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
We are also closed for two professional training days in August and late December.
Parent Participation
Parents have a great impact on their child’s progress. Parents are always welcome to visit the childcare center and join in their child’s classroom activities. Parents are asked to plan a visit with their child’s teacher at least one week in advance. Parent-teacher conferences, meetings and other activities are scheduled throughout the year as well.
Guardian Angel Child Development Center
Our Childcare Center
The Childcare Center is a secure facility with eight classrooms, a library, and expansive outdoor activity areas. Parking is available on site.
Curriculum
We use a creative, play-based curriculum approved by the State of Missouri and Federal funders. It’s a head start sanctioned curriculum, and activities are centered around experiential learning.
Field Trips
We occasionally take the children on field trips to points of interest in St. Louis, giving children the opportunity to expand their awareness of the community they live. Field trip sites might include theatrical performances, museums, or outdoor activities (pumpkin picking, the zoo, and county parks).
