Donor Story: Paving the Path to Possible

Kathy Williams has been a part of Guardian Angel since she joined the board five years ago. She was asked to join because of her background in social work, having worked for the Division of Family Services and at Family Court.

Her professional career exposed her to several social service organizations, many with similar missions and programs. However, Guardian Angel was different, and she realized this during her first board retreat. The way the room talked about Guardian Angel’s clients was unlike any conversation she’d had while involved with other organizations; she was amazed by the level of respect and commitment they expressed, even in a private setting.

Now almost six years later, Kathy has participated in new initiatives to further Guardian Angel’s mission. Most recently, she served on the Path to Possible Capital Campaign Committee. She joined the Committee to stretch both her and the organization and to find new ways to serve the St. Louis community.

For the new building, Kathy is excited about the opportunities having more space will provide. One of the strengths she loves about Guardian Angel is how they’re able to change with the times, and the flexibility the new space will provide Guardian Angel will only allow them to further change and grow.

One of her goals is to leverage the new building to facilitate greater awareness of Guardian Angel in the surrounding community. She wants the new building to be a space where community members can send people in times of need, where landlords, government officials, and neighbors can offer to drive people who are struggling, knowing they will get the help they need.

Kathy says that when thinking about giving to this campaign, people should understand how fortunate they are to be independent, to sleep without worrying where they’ll sleep tomorrow, and to have access to technology that allows them to do basic things like apply for jobs. She believes we should be grateful for our blessings and let that gratitude tug on our heart strings when considering affording others those same blessings.

Thank you Kathy for your support of the Path to Possible campaign! If you’d like to join her by giving to the Campaign, please donate here: https://gasastl.org/donate-now/
