Christmas Program 2015

Dear Friends,

Last year, we shared a story about Renee – a young single mother of three who was faced with challenges that many of us may not have to ever endure during our lifetimes: having access to healthcare, education and a place to live. This year, we celebrate all that Renee has achieved including getting healthy, completing her associate’s degree and finding an apartment that she and her children now call home.

Because of your generosity, Renee was able to take the first step on her path to possible. With your ongoing support of Guardian Angel Settlement Association, together we offer Renee and her family hope, not just help.

GASA gives hope to over 7,000 individuals and families in the City of St. Louis who, just like Renee, are ready to take their first step on the path to possible. Adults count on GASA to gain new job skills; parents count on GASA to help keep their young children learning; seniors count on GASA to connect them to resources so they can remain living in their own homes; many count on GASA to fill in an occasional meal. GASA listens to those that come to us from wherever for whatever, whenever. Once we understand why someone comes to us, we simply connect them to what they need – not tell them what they need to do.

This holiday season, will you give hope to over 700 families and seniors by supporting GASA’s Annual Christmas Program? Guidelines for giving gifts are below; a suggested items list is also enclosed:

  • Children – Spread the holiday cheer by donating a toy and clothing item per child
  • Parents – Help a parent or caregiver get in the spirit by donating something they need
  • Seniors – Let a senior know they are remembered by donating an item from their wish list
  • All – Offer a household some relief by donating food staples and household items, like paper products, toiletries, diapers, etc.

Back To School 2015

Dear Friends,

In just two months children across St. Louis will be starting a new school year. Whether its their first day of kindergarten or their senior year, the stakes will be high. How they perform will lay the foundation for their future.

Proper school supplies are important to educational success. Having items like paper, pencils, notebooks and backpacks give children the confidence and tools to apply what they learn in the classroom. For families that cannot afford the expense, the Guardian Angel Back-to-School Program is a big help.

You can help low-income children prepare for school by donating new backpacks and school supplies to elementary, middle and high school students who participate in the program. In 2014, the Program served over 600 children!

Guardian Angel partners with other organizations to keep costs low and serve as many children as possible, ensuring your donation will have the greatest impact possible!

Christmas Program 2014

Season’s Greetings,

With a little time and support, many people can get their lives back on track. Renee, a young single mother of three knows this all too well. She graduated from college recently and is starting a new career in 2014. That journey seemed impossible a year ago. After several surgeries, Renee was forced to drop out of school and quit working, leaving her unable to care for her children. Her world unraveled when inspectors scheduled her home for condemnation.

Guardian Angel Settlement Association was able to help Renee find an apartment and provide her with utility assistance, budgeting help and community resources while she got healthier. This year she was able to go back and finish college, which prepared her for work in the medical industry.

Your donations help Guardian Angel assist thousands of St. Louisians like Renee every year. Thanks to you, our services kept parents working, young children learning, seniors living in their own homes, and food on the table for more than 7,000 people in 2014. We were also able to offer new programs, like a self-sufficiency workshop series.

2014 Christmas Program

The Annual Christmas Program, co-sponsored by Kingdom House and St. Vincent DePaul Parish, is another great way to help people in need! Christmas Program 2013

Dear Friends,

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve.” Guardian Angel Settlement Association would like to thank everyone that supports our service to the less fortunate.

We provided help to 7,048 at-risk individuals in 2012. Our services kept seniors housed, young children fed, families healthy and parents working. Your donations have funded our early childhood development center and vital emergency assistance services like our food pantry, thrift store, and utility and rental assistance program, as well as our self-sufficiency programs.

Co-sponsored by Kingdom House and St. Vincent DePaul Parish, the Annual Christmas Program is one of many ways Guardian Angel provides relief and hope to our neighbors. Your contributions provided gifts, clothing and food to over 600 families and 500 seniors last year alone. Your donations fill our Christmas Shop where parents are able to shop for clothing and gifts that they know their children will love! (Suggested gifts list enclosed.) Seniors request specific gifts that you purchase and wrap, and our volunteers home deliver with a box of food. As always, surplus donations support our important year-round programming.

  • Children – Donate new, unwrapped toys and clothing. (any age, any gender)
  • Parents – Donate new, unwrapped clothing and household items.
  • Seniors – Donate one new, wrapped requested item per senior.
  • All – Donate food staples and household items.

Guardian Angel is committed to providing a hand up, not a hand out. Therefore, all Christmas Program participants are also involved in other services at GASA to help them become more self-sufficient.

Thank you for supporting our mission to improve the quality of life for those in need. Please send the enclosed donation confirmation form by December 6th to Guardian Angel (1127 N. Vandeventer). Gifts and Food should be dropped off Sunday, December 8th at St. Vincent’s Parish (1408 S. 10th Street) from 10am-4pm.

If you have questions about the Christmas Program or would like to arrange an alternate delivery date, please contact Denise West, Social Services Director at (314)773-9027.

Warmest Holiday Wishes,
